Children's Ministries

Scripture is very clear that the training and education of a child belongs to the parents (Deuteronomy 6:6-9). The children's ministry at Millers Creek Baptist takes that mandate very seriously. Our role is to come along side of parents to teach biblical truths and be a help to families as they strive to "train up children in the ways of the Lord" (Proverbs 22:6). Our ministry is not a replacement of the parental role, but one that encourages the involvment of the whole family as we minister to kids in Kindergarten through the sixth grade.

Our ministry is based around three areas of focus...
1     The Authority of Scripture.
              God's Word is the foundation of all we do. Children are
          encouraged to have family devotions and individual Quiet
          Times each day. Each week the kids are encouraged to look up
          Scripture references centered around certain doctrinal truths
          using a Bible bookmark. Each week children ages 3 - Grade 6
          are challenged to memorize Bible verses, references, & books
          of the Bible using our Power House Scripture memory
          program.

2     Spiritual Growth & Fellowship
                   We meet most weeks of the year for Kids in Worship giving
          the kids an opportunity to spend time with other kids in our
          church for a time of Bible study, worship, & fun.

3     Outside events designed for fellowship & growth
                   About 10 times a year we have special events designed to give
          the children time together with other families in our church
          outside of the church building setting.

Our desire is to help parents with the spiritual growth of their children, to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and to reach children in our community who may not have a church home. 31 Things to Pray
for Your Children

You can pray one item for each day of the month
or pray all 31 each day of the month.
The important thing is to pray for your children and grandchildren.

For their moral purity (Prov. 5:7-23; 1 Thess. 4:3-8)
To obey and respect authority (Ex. 20:12)
For God to draw them to Himself at an early age (John 3:3)
Protection from the schemes of Satan (Eph. 6:10 ff)
To know and love God's Word (Ps. 119:9-11)
That they would glorify God in whatever health or life
circumstances He gives them, rejoicing always (1 Thess.5:18)
For them to be wise (wisdom of the Lord -- Prov. 1:7)
Have and be a special friend (David and Jonathan -- 1 Samuel 20)
They would endure hardship in fellowship with Christ (Col. 1:24)
That their "yes" would be a "yes" and their "no" would mean "no"
(Matt. 5:37)
Equally yoked to a godly spouse (2 Cor. 6:14)
To be humble, desiring for God to have the glory (2 Tim 4:18)
That their life would be used to promote God's kingdom
(Matt 28:18-20)
To understand grace and so live out the law of Christ (Titus 2:11)
That my girl(s) would have a quiet and gentle spirit and
my boy(s) would be the spiritual leader of his family
A hunger and thirst for God's righteousness (Matt. 5:6)
Identify with their femaleness/maleness as God created them
To hate evil and avoid it... To get caught when they disobey

To be a hard worker (Col. 1:28-29)
Think biblically and have a Christian worldview (2 Cor. 10:5)
Be an encourager to others (Heb. 10:24)
Have a love and passion for the Church (Eph 4:14-16)

Be secure in who God has made them to be (Eph 1)
Know they are deeply loved (Ps. 103)
Live selflessly, not selfishly (2 Tim. 4:5)
Love the Lord their God with all their
heart, mind, soul, and strength (Matt. 22:37-39)
Love others (Matt 22:37-39)
That they would have honesty with
the Lord, themselves and others (1John 1:1-9)
Be faithful stewards of all the
treasures and talents God entrusts to them (1 Tim. 6:6-10)
That they would live by an eternal perspective (Phil. 2:20)

PRAY: FOR THEIR RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD

· that child's name may know 'how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ and to know this love that surpasses knowledge." - Ephesians 3:17-19

PRAY: FOR FAMILY RELATIONSHIPS

· that child's name will obey his/her parents in the Lord - Proverbs 1:8 & Colossians 3:20
